Notarized lease and inventory of the Palazzo Nani, Venice, 1697-1698.

Lease of the Palazzo Nani by Charles Montagu, Earl of Manchester, with a full inventory of the moveable goods listed room by room including furniture, paintings, sculpture, decorative art and fabrics. Among the items listed are paintings by Bonifacio Veronese, Zuccaro, Andrea Schiavone, Giulio Romano, and Tintoretto. The palace was rented from the brothers Agostino and Paolo Nani, through Manchester's agent Francesco Boni, a gold and silk merchant. The document has three dates: 26 December 1697, when the lease was drawn; 30 December when the inventory was made; and 11 April 1698 when the lease was terminated.
